Chapter 18
James
My violet eyes flashed when I saw Ella’s teeth descend.
I gripped her shoulders and was about to take her right there in the club when Clarence grabbed me from behind.
“Not here,” he hissed.
I growled at him, nearly ripping into him.
“James.” He shook my shoulder harshly. “Not here. Take her back to your room.”
Some of the fight left me when I realized he wasn’t trying to take her from me. But Ella’s eyes were deadly, and I knew that Clarence had seconds before she took him apart.
Scooping her into my arms, I flashed out of there. Running at top speed, I didn’t care who we knocked into on the way out. My wolf wanted to break free. It had been too long since we had transitioned.
Once we hit the night air, I bit her neck gently and shifted. Ella grinned and changed and we darted off into the desert.
The cool air felt heavenly, and my wolf reveled in the freedom. We had spent a great deal of time at GMU not being able to shift when we wanted. We weren’t used to such freedom, so the first time after a long break felt legendary.
We raced across the ground, nipping and playing with each other. I loved the look and feel of Ella as she brushed against me.
The time passed quickly as the moon rose in the sky. As it settled there, we pranced and raced through the night. We were carefree for the first time in what seemed like forever. Perhaps, this was the first time. Ever.
Finally we wore ourselves out and made our way back to our room.
All was quiet, seeing as how the club had closed a few hours before. It was before dawn, and I caught her to me as we watched the first visage of sunshine peek over the horizon. A masterpiece of pinks, oranges and golds lay before us.
My breath caught, this was only another reminder of all the things we had missed while being locked away.
Ella turned in my arms, grabbing my face. “Make love to me,” she pleaded.
I carried her to our room and locked the door. Laying her gently on the bed, I could hardly believe that this vision before me could be mine. I couldn’t help but appreciate the smooth lines of tight muscle and her amazing tits. My eyes locked on her pussy and she squirmed under my gaze.
As gorgeous as she was, I wasn’t drawn to that as much as I was to who Ella really was.
“Do you know why I love you?” I asked, leaning over her and gently kissing her lips.
Ella panted. “No.”
I kissed every inch of her face slipping down to her neck where her pulse was racing.
“I love your courage,” I began. “I love the way you race to help others even when I desperately want to hold you back—to keep you safe.”
She frowned before saying, “I will keep you safe.”
I smiled against her skin. “I love that you are the toughest badass chick on the planet.
